Iran has signaled its willingness to engage in diplomacy but has set preconditions for any future negotiations with the United States. Tehran insists that Washington must provide a ‘credible guarantee’ to prevent further aggression from the US and Israel. This statement was made in response to recent military operations. The Iranian envoy to India, Dr. Iraj Elahi, emphasized that talks would be meaningless without assurances against future attacks.
Elahi referred to two significant military operations last month. On June 13, Israel launched an operation targeting Iranian nuclear sites, missile production centers, and IRGC command bases. This was followed by US strikes on June 21-22, also targeting Iranian nuclear infrastructure. Iran has strongly condemned both actions as violations of international law.
Iran’s ambassador highlighted that the attacks involved cyber and terrorist elements. He further accused the US and Israel of undermining diplomatic efforts. Elahi reiterated that Iran’s nuclear program is peaceful and subject to strict IAEA inspections. Meaningful negotiations, he stated, hinge on the US ensuring no repetition of such attacks.
