Iran's Petrol Cost Hike Marks Second Increase Since December

The Iranian government confirmed on Tuesday that gasoline prices will rise again, marking the second increase in just over half a year.

Under the new rule, consumers may purchase up to 110 litres of petrol monthly without penalty. Exceeding this ceiling will result in a surcharge of 100,000 rials per litre, an amount comparable to seven cents in U.S. currency.

While the announcement did not name the United States, officials linked the decision to the “current circumstances” caused by sustained economic strain from the long‑standing dispute with Washington.
