Iran and Oman near finalizing Hormuz navigation agreement

Tehran and Muscat have reportedly reached a near‑final accord on reopening the Hormuz Strait for commercial navigation.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ismail Baghei announced that both capitals have agreed on the exact geographical coordinates for the shipping lane and are preparing a joint statement.

The statement, still being drafted, will summarise the main points of the negotiations and is expected to be issued shortly provided no third‑party interference occurs.

Oman has not yet issued an official public confirmation, but Iranian news agencies say the arrangement will allow Iran to monitor inbound and outbound Gulf traffic and to intervene when security or navigation is at risk.
