Iran’s Naval Patrol Detects Rule‑Breaking Tanker, Fire Breaks Out in Eastern Hormuz
According to a statement released by the Iranian navy, its monitoring teams identified a rule‑breaking oil tanker in the eastern part of the Hormuz Strait on Thursday. The vessel had deactivated its AIS transponder and was trying to slip through the restricted zone.
A fire broke out aboard the ship while it was in the prohibited area, causing significant damage. Iranian naval units quickly contained the incident and reported the event to the public.
The navy reiterated that its presence in the eastern sector of the strait is absolute, with new deployments enhancing its ability to monitor and control all ship movements.
All ships were urged to adhere to international regulations, keep their electronic equipment operational, and maintain coordination with Iranian forces for a secure transit.
