Iranian Military Vows to Defend Sovereignty in Hormuz After US Actions

Following the latest escalation, Iran’s armed forces have issued a public statement demanding that the United States honor the June memorandum. Brigadier General Akraminia accused the American military of violating Iran’s maritime sovereignty by attempting to force a new shipping lane through the Strait of Hormuz.

He warned that any further U.S. intrusion would be met with a proportionate response, reinforcing Tehran’s pledge to safeguard its territorial waters. The statement also called for regional cooperation, noting that future decisions on vessel movements in Hormuz should arise only from dialogue between Iran and Oman.

The Iranian Ministry of Defense reiterated that its navy is fully prepared to enforce the country’s rights and maintain the security of this critical oil‑transit route.
