Iran’s Leader Calls Nation’s Fight an Economic, Military and Security War

Tehran – In a nationally broadcast speech on Sunday, President Masoud Pejshakian declared that Iran is currently engaged in a pervasive war that spans economic, military and security arenas against hostile powers. He affirmed that despite intense pressure from Washington, Iran remains resolute in defending its sovereignty and serving its people.

The president outlined the government's vigorous campaign to bring down soaring prices and alleviate the economic strain on ordinary citizens, promising comprehensive action to address these challenges.

Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi echoed the sentiment, stating that the United States has no alternative but to communicate with Iran respectfully. He dismissed the Trump administration’s claim of a novel "Iran‑focused economic operation" as a familiar, repeatable scenario in American foreign policy.

President Donald Trump had earlier announced an unprecedented sanctions regime targeting any nation that provides Iran with essential support, branding the move as an "economic D‑Day" that would isolate Iran on a global scale.

The heightened tension has also undermined the June 18 agreement that sought to end regional hostilities across Lebanon and other fronts. The deal required a conclusive negotiation within 60 days, a timeline that lapsed on Monday, casting doubt on the pact’s viability.

A senior Iranian security official warned neighboring and other states that joining the U.S. economic pressure campaign would automatically make them adversaries of Tehran. National Security Council secretary Mohsen Rezaei told IRIB TV that Iran will first pursue diplomatic channels with the concerned countries, urging them not to partake in the U.S.‑driven economic conflict.
