Iranian IRGC Attempts Missile Assault on US Naval Vessel, Fails

The U.S. Central Command released a briefing on September 8 confirming that Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps launched two ballistic‑missile attacks against a U.S. warship stationed in the Gulf of Oman. Both missile salvos missed their target, and the U.S. vessel sustained no damage.

In retaliation, CENTCOM ordered air and sea assets to engage five Iranian crude‑oil tankers believed to be part of a financial network that supports the IRGC and its allied militias. The targeted ships – MT Kaviz, MT Charminar, MT Horizon‑1, MT Risco, and MT Darya – were instructed to evacuate their crews before being struck and disabled.
