Iran Condemns US Actions and Warns of Retaliation in Phone Talks

Tehran, July 10 – In a series of phone calls after a series of U.S. strikes, Iran’s foreign minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi publicly denounced the attacks and issued a clear warning to Washington. Speaking with Oman’s foreign minister, Turkey’s foreign minister, and Pakistan’s army chief, Araghchi outlined Iran’s position on the recent hostile acts.

He described the American operations as an open breach of the United Nations Charter and the recently signed Iran‑U.S. memorandum of understanding. He emphasized that Iran will not tolerate violations of its sovereignty and that any further U.S. military moves will be met with a proportionate response.

The conversation with Omani Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi centered on the escalating incidents in the Hormuz Strait, while the Turkish counterpart, Hakan Fidan, discussed broader regional security and the importance of diplomatic channels.

General Asim Munir of Pakistan’s army was told that the United States’ attacks, which the U.S. said were retaliation for Iranian strikes on commercial vessels, had already caused fourteen civilian deaths, seventy‑eight injuries and damage to a bridge and railway line. Araghchi reiterated Iran’s readiness to protect its national security interests.

In retaliation, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and regular army launched missile and drone attacks on U.S. bases in Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar and Jordan. These actions come amid ongoing 60‑day talks between Tehran and Washington, aimed at reaching a final peace agreement under a memoranda of understanding.

The Iranian ministry’s statements underline the minister’s push for sustained diplomatic engagement to prevent further escalation and to keep the vital Hormuz Strait open for international commerce.
