Iran blames US and Saudi aggression for escalating tension in West Asia

Tehran’s foreign ministry released a statement on July 29 condemning recent US and Saudi air raids in Iraq, calling the attacks a direct attempt to fuel further conflict in West Asia.

The ministry noted that the bombings struck facilities linked to Iraq’s official bodies and pilgrimage routes, violating both Iraq’s sovereignty and international legal standards, including the UN Charter. It accused the United States and its Saudi partner of pursuing a policy designed to widen war and instability across the region.

Iran offered its condolences to the families of Iraqi civilians killed in the strikes and pledged continued support for the Iraqi government and its people. It placed the sole responsibility for these dangerous, inhumane actions on the US administration and its regional collaborators.

The Popular Mobilisation Forces (PMF) reported that the air raids resulted in 20 deaths among its fighters, 32 injuries, and inflicted material damage on buildings, vehicles and military equipment.
