International cooperation leads to capture of wanted smuggler Park Wang-yol

Police successfully extradited infamous drug trafficker Park Wang‑yol from the Philippines after he was detained on suspicion of involvement in the murder of three South Korean nationals. Authorities allege that Park was also responsible for directing large shipments of methamphetamine to buyers inside South Korea.

Following the arrest, South Korean investigators coordinated with Thai officials to detain Choi Byung‑min, a key supplier in the same network. Choi was apprehended and returned to Korea, where further inquiry revealed 41 additional offences and illegal profits estimated at nearly 6 billion won, which were seized before formal charges were filed.
