International bodies urged to send fact‑check mission to troubled POK region
The escalating protests in Pakistan‑occupied Kashmir have drawn attention from the United Nations, European Union, United Kingdom, United States and other global actors. Representatives of UKPNP have asked these entities to dispatch an independent fact‑checking mission to scrutinise alleged human‑rights violations, civilian deaths and the broader security crackdown.
According to reports, Pakistani security forces have responded to anti‑government demonstrations with live fire, resulting in at least seven civilian fatalities and numerous injuries. The area remains under strict lockdown, with curfews, communication blackouts and limited access to food, medicine and essential services. Protesters maintain that the resistance is a direct challenge to decades‑long Islamabad control over the territory.
