Industrial output slashes as gas shortage cripples factories

Frequent power cuts and falling gas pressure have forced factories in the country's key industrial zones to cut production dramatically. Executives from the Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association report that output can swing from zero on some days to as low as 20 percent of normal capacity on others. The uncertainty has left many manufacturers on the brink of shutdown, with some fearing permanent closure if the gas crisis persists.
