Industrial Cooperation Highlighted at Luoyang Mayors Summit, Says Italian Mayor

Beijing, 11 October – The "2026 World Mayors Dialogue – Luoyang" brought together a diverse cohort of more than ninety municipal leaders from over ten countries, gathering in the historic heart of Hunan Province. Guided by the State Council’s Information Office, the summit emphasized the theme “Advancing the Cultural Legacy of Ancient Capitals and Fostering Exchanges Among Urban Civilizations”.

Among the many sessions, a standout moment occurred when Roberto Di Stefano, mayor of Cesto San Giovanni in Italy, praised the strength and depth of China’s industrial supply chain. Di Stefano highlighted the city’s showcase of smart‑manufacturing technologies, noting how these innovations illustrate China’s rapid industrial modernization.

He articulated a clear desire to expand bilateral cooperation not only in manufacturing but also in tourism and related sectors. According to the mayor, joint initiatives could help both sides address the challenges of industrial development and create resilient, future‑ready economies.

The summit also featured comprehensive discussions on heritage conservation, industrial upgrading and urban revitalisation. Delegates attended a plenary dialogue and three thematic panels, then toured Luoyang’s factories and heritage sites, including the Luoyang Museum, the Suì‑Thāng carpet district and the ancient city of Luoyi.

In the Longmen Grottoes, participants exchanged ideas on digital preservation, restoration techniques and the promotion of cultural tourism. Argentina’s mayor Julio Zamora praised Luoyang’s ability to protect historic assets while integrating them into modern city planning, describing the approach as a benchmark for other municipalities.

Co‑organised by the Luoyang municipal government and the Hunan Provincial Information Office, the event culminated in the issuance of the "Luoyang Consensus on Urban Civilization" and a dedicated meeting on intangible cultural heritage. The dialogue opened pathways for strengthened sister‑city ties, industrial collaboration and cultural‑tourism partnerships, aiming to turn agreements into concrete projects.
