The United Nations has once again recognized the outstanding performance of Indian troops deployed in Lebanon under the UNIFIL mandate. The INDBATT XXVI contingent, stationed in one of the most sensitive sectors along the Israel-Lebanon border, received the Force Commander's Commendation Certificate for its exemplary conduct and operational excellence during a particularly tense period. Ambassador Noor Rehman Sheikh represented India at the medal parade ceremony held in southern Lebanon, where he congratulated Colonel N Gladson and his troops from the Madras Regiment. The battalion's primary responsibilities include monitoring ceasefire agreements, carrying out security patrols, and delivering critical humanitarian aid including medical services to vulnerable populations. Working from fortified positions and armored vehicles, the soldiers have navigated complex security challenges while maintaining strict neutrality. Their proactive engagement with local communities, especially through veterinary care programs for farmers, has strengthened trust and cooperation. The Female Engagement Team has played a pivotal role in reaching out to women and children in the area. This achievement marks the second time the unit has been honored by UNIFIL leadership, highlighting their consistent ability to deliver results in high-risk environments. The recognition reflects India's longstanding contribution to international peace and stability through its participation in United Nations missions worldwide.
