Indian Immigrant Lawyer Leads Strathfield Council as New Mayor

Sandhya Reddy, an Indian‑born immigration attorney, has been appointed mayor of Strathfield, one of Sydney's most diverse local government areas. Her academic background includes a law degree, a master's in anthropology, and a graduate certificate in migration law from the Australian National University. After serving as a councilor since 2021 and as deputy mayor in 2023, she secured a second council term in September 2025 and was subsequently elected mayor for a two‑year tenure.
