Indian High Commission Highlights $7.5 Billion Aid to Sri Lanka Alongside Dengue Support

In a post on the social media platform X, India's High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, Santosh Jha, emphasized the country's long‑standing partnership with Colombo. He noted that India has now contributed more than $7.5 billion to Sri Lankan development, including grants surpassing $850 million for housing, health, education, rail transport, energy and livelihood initiatives that reach every one of the island's 25 districts. As part of this cooperation, India has delivered 500 liters of technical Malathion to Health Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayathissa to bolster dengue control measures. While the dengue case count has fallen from its historic high, health officials warn that hospital wards remain stretched, underscoring the need for continued vector‑control resources.
