Indian Embassy Confirms IndiGo Flight Suspension in Saudi Arabia
New Delhi, October 23: The Indian Embassy in Saudi Arabia has confirmed that IndiGo has temporarily halted flights to several Saudi cities because of the evolving security situation. The embassy made the announcement through an official post on X.
According to the embassy, IndiGo flights to and from Riyadh will remain suspended until October 31, 2026. Services connecting Jeddah, Dammam and Madinah will be cancelled until October 27, 2026.
IndiGo has also issued a travel advisory. The airline said it has reviewed conditions in Saudi Arabia and decided to keep all Riyadh flights cancelled until October 31, 2026. Flights to Jeddah, Dammam and Madinah will remain cancelled until October 27, 2026.
The airline stressed that the safety and well-being of its passengers and crew are its foremost priority. It said it is continuously monitoring the situation and staying in touch with the appropriate authorities to assess the risks.
IndiGo apologised to passengers whose travel plans have been disrupted. Affected travellers are being notified using the contact information provided at the time of booking. Passengers are advised to verify their flight status before leaving for the airport.
The suspension comes at a time of heightened anxiety following ongoing attacks on airports and energy sites in Saudi Arabia. Pilgrims from various Islamic countries pass through the Kingdom while travelling to Mecca for Umrah, and the situation has been tense over the past few days.
The Indian Embassy in Riyadh and the Consulate General in Jeddah have said they are working with the affected airlines and tour operators to arrange the early return of stranded passengers.
