China's National Day Marked by Indian Diplomatic Message Amid Improving Ties

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar posted a congratulatory note to China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi and the Chinese populace on the People’s Republic of China’s National Day, celebrated each year on October 1.

The gesture follows a series of diplomatic overtures that have softened the strained relationship between the two Asian powers. Jaishankar has emphasized that while the trajectory is upward compared with 2024, it does not signify a resolution of deep‑rooted disputes.

He pointed out that trade continues unabated, yet formal governmental contacts, visa processing, and flight operations have suffered from the prolonged border standoff. The gradual restoration of these services reflects a natural return to stability rather than a final settlement.

The minister concluded by noting that a decline in bilateral relations harms both countries and creates opportunities for third‑party interference.
