Indian Crew Members Hospitalized After Projectile Hits Panama Flagged Ship

India's foreign ministry disclosed that the merchant vessel MT On Peace, flagged by Panama, suffered a projectile strike while traversing the Hormuz Strait off the Omani shoreline. The vessel's 19‑person crew included 17 Indian citizens, and the attack left 12 crew members wounded, with 11 of those being Indians.

Following the incident, Omani rescue teams evacuated the injured and air‑lifted them to a medical centre in Khasab. The Indian government conveyed appreciation for Oman’s assistance and assured that the sailors are receiving appropriate medical attention.

Delhi issued a strong condemnation of the assault and highlighted its growing concern over persistent threats to commercial shipping in the Gulf region. The statement emphasized that safe and unimpeded maritime commerce is essential for regional peace, and called on all parties to refrain from endangering vessels navigating international waterways.

Given the strategic importance of the Hormuz Strait for global trade, any interruption could affect energy supplies and international markets. India reaffirmed its commitment to upholding freedom of navigation and urged immediate measures to prevent further attacks.
