India-Uzbek Relations Reach Strategic Partnership, Says President

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan announced that the relationship between India and Uzbekistan has been elevated to a "comprehensive strategic partnership" during his remarks on August 30.

He credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s personal contribution for achieving this historic milestone, noting that the two leaders’ sincere discussions on trade, cultural exchange, and security have laid a solid foundation for deeper cooperation.

Mirziyoyev also highlighted India’s impressive modernization agenda, stating that the country’s achievements across sectors are a direct result of Modi’s effective governance. The Uzbek leader expressed pride in witnessing India’s rapid ascent on the international stage.

On the economic front, the president pointed out that current bilateral trade stands at roughly $1 billion, but this figure is merely a starting point. He outlined an ambitious target of $5 billion in the near term, with confidence that $10 billion can be attained as the partnership matures.
