US Legislation Meetings Highlight India‑US Economic Cooperation

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s North American tour will culminate with a series of engagements across the United States. In Chicago, she will join a high‑level round‑table with leading investors and representatives from prominent private‑sector firms. Discussions will centre on the spectrum of investment prospects in India, the broader economic outlook, and measures to reinforce commercial ties between India and the United States.

A scheduled visit to the University of Chicago’s Polsky Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation will allow the minister to explore collaborative pathways in research, start‑up incubation and technology‑driven growth.

The itinerary moves to Asheville, North Carolina, where she will lead the Indian delegation at the G‑20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors meeting, hosted by the United States. Delegates will deliberate on global economic development, financial stability, cross‑border investment flows and other pressing macro‑economic themes.

In New York City, Sitharaman will attend an investors’ round‑table with senior executives from leading corporations, followed by participation in a Nasdaq‑organized bell‑ringing ceremony, symbolising deeper integration of Indian markets with global capital platforms.

The Ministry of Finance stresses that these interactions provide insight into the accelerating role of fintech, the evolving nexus between technology and capital markets, and shifting patterns of global investment, all of which are critical for shaping India’s future economic strategy.
