India, Uruguay Align on Community of Latin American and Caribbean States Cooperation

In Delhi, the foreign ministers of India and Uruguay affirmed their commitment to work closely within the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC). The discussion highlighted joint efforts to expand trade, share technological expertise and foster innovation across Global South nations.

Jaishankar noted that enhanced CELAC‑India collaboration could open new markets for Indian manufacturers and create opportunities for Uruguayan exporters in sectors such as agriculture, pharmaceuticals and renewable energy. Both sides welcomed Uruguay’s intention to contribute to the International Solar Alliance, aligning with India’s climate diplomacy.

The meeting concluded with a mutual pledge to develop a detailed action plan, to be reviewed annually, ensuring sustained momentum in bilateral and multilateral engagements.
