India urges Pakistan to free 188 completed‑sentence detainees and return them home

Following the routine bi‑annual sharing of consular data, India pressed Pakistan for the immediate liberation of 188 Indian prisoners and fishermen whose punishments are over. New Delhi asked Islamabad to grant consular access to 13 Indian detainees still awaiting formal permission and to ensure adequate protection and welfare until they are handed over. The ministry noted that, since 2014, Pakistan has already repatriated 2,661 Indian fishermen and 78 civilians, including 500 fishermen and 20 civilians this year alone.
