India-UAE Ties Gain Momentum as Senior Emirati Leaders Visit Delhi

New Delhi, October 23: Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently held a meeting with Sheikh Thiyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who holds the position of Vice Chairman for Development and Martyrs' Affairs at the Presidential Court of the UAE.

Announcing the engagement on Friday, the Prime Minister's Office said on X that the meeting had taken place the day before. Sheikh Thiyab had landed in New Delhi on Thursday.

The External Affairs Ministry described the visit as a welcome development. It said the trip would help accelerate the regular exchange of high-level visits between India and the United Arab Emirates.

The visit coincides with a busy stretch of diplomacy. UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan had earlier in the week completed a two-day trip to India.

On Tuesday in Mumbai, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed met to assess the state of bilateral ties. The discussions also focused on how to strengthen the comprehensive strategic and economic partnership between the two countries.

Jaishankar later noted that bilateral relations were moving toward their full promise, in keeping with the comprehensive strategic partnership. He cited progress in trade, investment, energy, technology, logistics, defence, education and people-to-people links.

The ties between India and the UAE have strengthened consistently over recent years across trade, investment and strategic cooperation. Both countries are focused on widening collaboration in key sectors and advancing shared goals of economic development and prosperity.
