India Takes ‘Appropriate Action’ Following Pakistan’s Removal of Indian Barricades in Islamabad

The Foreign Ministry of India declared that the removal of temporary structures outside the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi constitutes "appropriate action" in light of Pakistan’s recent dismantling of Indian‑installed barricades in Islamabad.

According to officials, the Delhi‑based clearance involved the use of a JCB excavator to pull down traffic bollards, temporary fencing, and other makeshift installations that had been placed beyond the mission’s authorized limits. The removal also included clearing the line‑up arrangements near the visa wing.

Randhir Jaiswal, the ministry’s official spokesperson, noted that the decision was taken after Pakistan unilaterally removed Indian security structures in its capital, an act India regarded as a breach of diplomatic protocol. He emphasized that India would continue to safeguard its diplomatic missions while responding in kind to any similar actions.

The move was highlighted during a routine press briefing, coinciding with the first visit to Jammu and Kashmir by U.S. Ambassador Sergio Gor, who hinted at a possible revision of U.S. travel guidance for the disputed region, reaffirming its importance to India.
