India Seeks Structured Cooperation Among BRICS Drug Agencies Ahead of 2026 Summit

New Delhi, July 5 – As the BRICS chair for 2026, India will bring together narcotics control heads from the four partner countries in Guwahati, Assam, on 6‑7 July.

The agenda emphasizes three priority pillars: curbing misuse of synthetic drugs and precursor chemicals, strengthening intelligence sharing and operational coordination, and building capacity through institutional collaboration.

India aims to showcase its own robust anti‑narcotics initiatives while encouraging member states to adopt best practices in monitoring pharmaceutical supply chains, exchanging expert knowledge, and conducting joint interdiction exercises. The structured approach is intended to deliver measurable results in reducing drug‑related harm across the BRICS region.
