India Slams Joint China-Pakistan Statement on Kashmir

India has issued a sharp rebuttal to a joint statement issued by China and Pakistan that referenced Jammu and Kashmir. The remarks followed Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s recent visit to Beijing, where he met President Xi Jinping. The statement described Kashmir as an unresolved historical issue requiring third-party resolution. Speaking to the media, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal categorically rejected the reference. He affirmed that Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh have always been, and will remain, integral parts of India. No other country has the right to comment on India’s sovereign territory, he added. The statement also highlighted plans to expand the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor. India warned that any such projects passing through territory under its control would be strongly opposed. Officials described these initiatives as efforts to consolidate Pakistan’s unlawful occupation and undermine India’s territorial integrity. India further dismissed references to trans-boundary water resources between China and Pakistan. Because the two nations do not share a border, the terminology was deemed irrelevant. New Delhi also recalled its consistent non-recognition of the 1963 boundary pact that transferred parts of occupied Kashmir to China. The government reiterated that Kashmir remains an internal Indian matter. Any attempt to bring in external actors or internationalize the issue will continue to be firmly rebuffed, officials said.
