The Ministry of External Affairs confirmed that a cargo of anti‑tuberculosis medication, estimated at three metric tonnes, was air‑lifted from India to Colombo on a C‑130J transport plane. Foreign Minister S. Jayashankar stressed India’s commitment to aid Sri Lanka’s public‑health system, noting that the medicines will help curb the rising TB burden. The delivery forms part of a broader cooperation framework discussed during recent bilateral talks, which also covered maritime security, disaster relief and joint participation in regional forums. India’s health assistance complements larger development grants, such as the funding for a new two‑storey Accident and Emergency unit at Mannar Hospital.
