India sends relief convoy to aid flood victims in Parwan, Afghanistan

Kabul, July 21 – A convoy loaded with food kits and prefabricated tents left India on Tuesday, bound for Afghanistan's Parwan district in Nurestan province. The materials are intended to support residents whose houses were swept away by the recent torrential rains.

The convoy was received by Afghanistan's National Disaster Management Authority, which confirmed that at least 20 people have died, more than 80 have been injured and over 100 are still missing after the flood surge. The Taliban-led government has activated rescue units and deployed specialists to map the extent of the damage.

Officials highlighted that the sudden rise in water levels caused extensive harm to agricultural fields, small businesses and residential structures. Ongoing rescue operations aim to locate those carried away by the fast‑moving waters, while the newly arrived tents will provide immediate shelter for displaced families.
