India has officially elevated its Technical Mission in Kabul to the full status of the Embassy of India in Afghanistan. This significant upgrade, effective immediately, underscores India’s deepening commitment to bilateral relations and cooperation with the Afghan nation.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) stated that this decision clearly demonstrates India’s strong intent to enhance collaboration across all sectors of mutual interest. The move follows discussions held during the recent visit of the Afghan Foreign Minister to India, where the restoration of embassy status was agreed upon.
The newly reinstated Embassy is expected to play a crucial role in supporting Afghanistan’s long-term development, humanitarian assistance, and crucial capacity-building initiatives. These efforts are designed to align with the priorities and aspirations of the Afghan people.
During a meeting on October 10th, India’s External Affairs Minister engaged in extensive talks with the Afghan Foreign Minister. The discussions covered a broad spectrum of shared regional concerns and significant geopolitical developments. India reaffirmed its enduring friendship with the Afghan people, highlighting the deep-rooted cultural and historical connections between the two countries. India reiterated its steadfast support for Afghanistan’s developmental goals and national progress.
