India Removes Unauthorized Structures Near Pakistani High Commission

New Delhi, August 21 – On August 20, Indian officials dismantled makeshift traffic bollards and security barricades that had been placed near the Pakistani High Commission. The ministry explained that the structures were erected to facilitate parking, despite a prior Indian request to leave the area untouched.

Spokesperson Ranveer Jaiswal said the removal was part of routine site management, but acknowledged that the initial placement had caused concern. He added that similar temporary installations on the lane leading to the Pakistani mission were also taken down to avoid any misunderstandings.

The incident underscores the sensitivity surrounding diplomatic premises in the capital, especially amid broader regional developments such as the Saudi‑Pakistan‑Turkey defence pact and Bangladesh’s interest in joining it.

The ministry reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding the interests of Indian nationals abroad, including the country’s sizable seafaring community, and promised to raise any related issues with the appropriate authorities.
