India-Qatar Strategic Partnership Discussed During Doha Meeting

Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar and Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani convened in Doha to review the strategic partnership that has evolved since diplomatic ties were established in 1973. The dialogue covered energy cooperation, trade expansion, investment flows, and enhanced connectivity through air and maritime routes.

Both leaders highlighted ongoing projects in renewable energy and digital infrastructure, signaling a shift toward sustainable development. They also exchanged views on the current conflicts in West Asia, agreeing to maintain open channels of communication to mitigate regional instability.

The meeting forms a key part of Jaishankar’s Gulf tour, which runs from July 5 to July 10 and includes official visits to Bahrain, Kuwait and Oman. The itinerary is designed to reinforce India’s role as a reliable partner in the Gulf, while addressing shared challenges and exploring new growth opportunities.
