India‑Morocco Defence Ties Deepen with Agreements on Joint Production and Medical Cooperation

During the first joint defence committee meeting in New Delhi, India and Morocco affirmed their intention to expand defence collaboration beyond traditional training and exercises. The two governments discussed joint production of military hardware, establishment of joint ventures, and technology transfer arrangements.

Representatives from India's Defence Production Organisation, the Armed Forces Medical Services and the Defence Research and Development Organisation met with Moroccan officials, including Brigadier General Abdellah Athmani. Both parties highlighted the need for shared expertise in military medicine, with a planned visit to India's Army Hospital Research and Referral Centre for knowledge exchange.

The meeting also underscored the importance of cyber defence as a strategic priority, encouraging joint research and capacity building to counter emerging digital threats. The agreements reached are expected to lay the groundwork for a more institutionalised defence partnership.
