India Monitors Rescue Operations Following Oman Coastal Drone Assault
The Indian diplomatic mission in Muscat has been tracking the aftermath of a drone strike that struck the tanker MT Petro Dolphin off the Omani coast. The attack left twelve crew members wounded, including eleven Indians, and resulted in two Indian seafarers being listed as missing.
In a post on the social platform X, the embassy confirmed that officials are maintaining a "close watch" on the evolving situation. The Indian government has been in constant contact with Omani rescue agencies, offering support and requesting regular updates on the progress of the search.
Minister Sarbanand Sonowal reiterated that India will spare no effort to bring the missing crew members home safely. He praised the prompt response of Omani coastguard units, noting that the coordinated effort illustrates the importance of regional cooperation in safeguarding maritime traffic.
The episode adds to a growing pattern of threats to vessels operating in the Gulf of Oman. India previously condemned an attack on the tanker MT On Peace on October 6, urging immediate cessation of all hostile acts that jeopardize the free flow of trade through the Hormuz Strait.
