India-Liechtenstein Ties Gain Momentum During Prince's State Visit
Hereditary Prince Alois of Liechtenstein has described his state visit to India as an honour and reaffirmed his country's commitment to strengthening ties with New Delhi. He made the remarks on Tuesday.
At Rashtrapati Bhavan, the Prince was formally received in the forecourt. President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed him with warmth.
Addressing journalists, the Prince thanked the President and the Prime Minister for their invitation and hospitality. "I am very honoured to be here on Liechtenstein's first state visit to this wonderful country," he said.
He added that the historic trip reflects the importance his nation gives to its partnership with India.
Highlighting the Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement (TEPA), which became operational a year ago, the Prince called it a key milestone in deepening bilateral relations. He said both countries were determined to build on that progress.
The Prince also pointed to strong prospects for collaboration in innovation, advanced manufacturing, financial services, education and technology. He said the complementary strengths of the two countries could serve their long-term interests across these and other fields.
He landed in the capital on Monday after a stop in Vadodara, Gujarat. At the airport, Minister of State Jayant Singh extended a welcome.
The Ministry of External Affairs noted in an X post that the visit opened a new chapter in India-Liechtenstein relations and would lend fresh impetus to bilateral cooperation.
The state visit started in Mumbai at Prime Minister Modi's invitation. Princess Sophie and a high-level official and business delegation are with the Prince.
This is his second India trip in 2026, after attending the AI Impact Summit in New Delhi in February. He has also visited India in 2010 and 2018.
