New report urges India‑led renewable grid projects across South Asia

A policy paper released on August 14 recommends that Australia view India not merely as a bilateral partner but as the central pillar of South Asia’s future infrastructure development. The study outlines how India can spearhead the integration of renewable‑energy grids, enabling smoother electricity trade between Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal, the Maldives and Sri Lanka. It also suggests the creation of a renewable‑SARIC project‑preparation window, allowing ministries to submit proposals for solar, hydrogen and storage projects.
