India‑Kenya Naval Cooperation Strengthens with Passage Drills and Outreach
The Indian Navy’s INS Taraksh sailed into Mombasa on 29 September, a move designed to reinforce maritime partnership between India and Kenya.
According to a statement from the Indian High Commission on X, the frigate’s stay will be punctuated by professional exchanges, crew interaction sessions and community‑outreach events. An open‑house for the public is set for 1 October, running from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Before heading back to Indian waters, the ship will engage in passage drills with the Kenyan Navy, a practice aimed at sharpening joint operational readiness in the western Indian Ocean.
The visit follows a 19 September encounter between Indian High Commissioner Adarsh Swika and Kenya’s Principal Secretary for Foreign Affairs Korir Singoei, where the two discussed upcoming high‑level exchanges and highlighted the expanding trade and investment relationship.
The mission mirrors the April operational turnaround carried out by INS Trikand, which combined health‑focused activities, community engagement and professional exchanges, further solidifying the naval bond between the two countries.
