India‑Japan Summit: Modi and Takaichi to Chart Future Cooperation

New Delhi – On Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will sit down with Japan’s Prime Minister Sane Takaichi for the 16th annual summit between the two nations. The bilateral dialogue will cover a comprehensive review of existing cooperation scopes and plans to reinforce ties in strategic, economic, and security areas.

Prime Minister Takaichi arrived in Delhi on Wednesday evening, commencing a three‑day official tour that includes a formal reception at the President’s House. The Ministry of External Affairs highlighted the significance of her visit in bolstering the strategic partnership and global collaboration between India and Japan.

During the opening day’s Human Resource Mobility Forum, Japan’s ambassador Keichi Ono expressed that Takaichi’s visit presents a valuable chance to advance people‑to‑people exchanges, strengthening the deep strategic bond shared by the two countries.

The forum emphasized the importance of skill‑based mobility and identified emerging pathways for joint initiatives.

In a pre‑visit interview, Prime Minister Takaichi outlined three priority areas: deepening the strategic partnership amid current global dynamics, enhancing economic security, and expanding collaboration between businesses in investment and innovation. She also stressed the joint responsibility of India and Japan to maintain peace and stability in the Indo‑Pacific and looked forward to discussing the Free and Open Indo‑Pacific vision with Prime Minister Modi.
