India‑Indonesia partnership highlighted during Modi’s Jakarta visit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s itinerary in Indonesia combined high‑level talks with cultural outreach, culminating in a grand send‑off at Jakarta’s airport. Five Indonesian fighter jets formed a protective escort for his aircraft, echoing the same honour he received upon arrival.

President Joko Widodo personally welcomed Modi and later joined him for a farewell handshake, symbolising strong political rapport. Both leaders discussed expanding cooperation in defence, naval security, emerging tech sectors, artificial intelligence and digital innovation.

A notable cultural moment occurred at the thousand‑year‑old Prambanan temple, where the two heads of state jointly inaugurated a plaque signalling the start of a conservation project led by the Archaeological Survey of India.
