India to Host 18th BRICS Summit Amid Growing Membership

New Delhi is set to welcome leaders from the BRICS family for the eighteenth summit on September 12‑13. The event coincides with the 20th anniversary of the BRICS cooperation mechanism and reflects the bloc’s rapid expansion over the last ten years. With the inclusion of Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the UAE, Iran, Ethiopia and Indonesia as full members, and a host of partner nations, the summit will be the largest gathering of the group to date.

India’s foreign ministry expects the meeting to focus on consolidating trade links, boosting joint research, and advancing sustainable development initiatives. Particular emphasis will be placed on digital transformation, climate resilience and inclusive growth, topics that align with the “Big BRICS” vision promoted by President Xi.

Observers note that the summit provides an arena for member states to coordinate positions on global issues such as supply‑chain security, reform of international financial institutions, and the preservation of multilateralism.
