India‑Cyprus diplomatic outreach highlights transport and maritime collaboration

The Indian diplomatic mission in Nicosia reported a busy week of bilateral engagements aimed at expanding cooperation beyond traditional political dialogue. Following the Independence Day celebrations on October 1, High Commissioner Manish held a series of meetings with key Cypriot officials.

A core part of the agenda was a detailed conversation with Defence Attache Group Captain Parminder S. Antil, who presented the India‑Cyprus Defence Cooperation Roadmap 2026‑2031. Emphasis was placed on practical measures such as personnel exchanges, joint naval exercises, and coordinated training programmes to deepen security ties.

Subsequently, the High Commissioner met Transport, Communication and Works Minister AV Tsolaki to chart out pathways for increased connectivity. Topics included improving sea‑lane agreements, joint infrastructure projects, and leveraging each country’s expertise to enhance maritime logistics and transport efficiency.

These coordinated efforts illustrate a comprehensive approach to the bilateral relationship, where strategic, defence, and economic dimensions are being integrated to create lasting, mutually beneficial outcomes.
