The Ministry of External Affairs in New Delhi announced that the virtual meeting held on August 5, featuring former Bangladeshi leader Sheikh Hasina, was arranged by a private media entity. According to spokesperson Ranveer Jaiswal, the Indian government neither organized nor supported the platform, and therefore does not back any of the comments made about Bangladesh’s political situation. He reaffirmed that India maintains vigilant oversight of neighbourhood affairs and will adopt measures necessary to protect its national interests.
