India Asserts Sovereignty Over Jammu & Kashmir at UNGA
At the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly, India reaffirmed its unwavering stance on Jammu and Kashmir after President Erdogan of Turkey referenced the territory in his address.
Ranvir Jaiswal clarified that such references are "unnecessary" and that the sovereign rights of India over the region are non‑negotiable. He warned that repeated political propaganda cannot change the factual reality of the area’s status.
The ministry highlighted that any external attempt to influence or mediate on Jammu and Kashmir is unacceptable and will be countered with firm diplomatic responses.
This position mirrors earlier rebuttals to an OIC contact group’s statements, which India labeled as factually wrong and lacking any jurisdiction over its internal matters.
