India Announces Specialist Hospital, Organ Transplant Center in Gaza

In a briefing held on July 15, India’s Foreign Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar revealed that New Delhi will fund a specialist hospital, an organ‑transplant and fitment centre, and a commercial training institute in the Palestinian territories. The announcement coincided with India’s upcoming bid for a temporary UN Security Council seat for the 2028‑2029 term.

The initiatives are designed to mitigate the acute health crisis in the Gaza Strip, where many medical facilities have been destroyed or are non‑functional, leaving civilians without access to essential medicines and care. The new hospital and transplant centre aim to restore critical health services and support the rehabilitation of war‑affected populations.

Meanwhile, the commercial training institute will focus on skill development for Palestinian youth, targeting sectors that can drive post‑conflict economic reconstruction and improve employment prospects across the region.
