India Accuses Pakistan of State-Sponsored Cross-Border Terrorism Following Pahalgam Tragedy

In a forceful statement at the United Nations, India accused Pakistan of directly sponsoring terrorist activities that resulted in the Pahalgam tragedy.

The incident, in which 26 civilians were brutally murdered, was attributed to the Resistance Front, a proxy organisation of Lashkar‑e‑Taiba operating from Pakistani territory. Indian officials asserted that the attack underscores Pakistan's role in facilitating cross‑border terror.

Bipul Kumar Deb highlighted India's right to defend its people and called for immediate adoption of the Comprehensive Convention on International Terrorism (CCIT), a treaty India first proposed in 1996 but which remains blocked by a small coalition of countries. He argued that the treaty's provisions are critical for prosecuting financiers and supporters of terrorism, regardless of how they are labeled.

India also noted its recent retaliatory measures targeting terrorist bases allegedly used to plan the Pahalgam strike, framing these actions as part of a broader six‑point strategy that includes dismantling terror financing, protecting victims, strengthening domestic capabilities, countering extremist ideology, and disrupting infrastructure.
