IBSA Endorses India’s Critical Minerals Circular Economy Initiative
The IBSA group gave formal backing to India’s proposal under the G20 to launch a critical minerals circular economy initiative. The programme aims to promote recycling, urban mining and second‑life battery technologies to strengthen supply chains and support the energy transition.
Ministers Jaishankar, Lamola and Vieira noted that many developing mineral‑producing nations face a shortage of investment and lack local processing capacity. They stressed the importance of value retention in mineral‑rich countries, encouraging policies that keep more of the economic benefits within the producing regions.
The endorsement signals a shared commitment to sustainable resource management and to building resilient supply chains for the technologies of the future.
