The floodwaters of the Bhote‑Koshi and Trishuli rivers devastated Nepal’s energy sector. Twelve operating hydropower plants and one solar project were damaged, wiping out 281.1 MW of installed capacity and halting construction on projects representing another 395.02 MW. Damage to transmission lines and substations prevented 149.6 MW from feeding the national grid, raising the total affected capacity to about 430.7 MW—roughly 10.6 percent of the country’s projected 2025‑26 renewable generation mix.
