Hungary Deploys Underwater Barriers to Raise Danube for Paks Reactor Cooling

In response to the record‑low Danube, Hungarian officials have accelerated a plan to install an underwater weir made from about 145,000 cubic metres of rock. The structure is expected to increase the water level near the Paks plant by up to one metre, providing the necessary flow for reactor cooling. Prime Minister Magyar posted on social media that the construction is proceeding on both riverbanks and that 5,000 tonnes of stone were delivered on Saturday alone.
