Hundred Beautiful Villages Selected as Part of New Rural Tourism Initiative

Beijing, September 23 – As part of the China Rural Tourism Conference held in Huzhou, organisers unveiled a nationwide campaign to celebrate the most attractive rural settlements. The “Top 100 Beautiful Villages” project aims to spotlight exemplary locations that blend natural scenery, cultural heritage, and community vitality.

The selection process, overseen by CMG and tourism experts, will evaluate criteria such as landscape quality, preservation of traditional architecture, and local participation in tourism activities. Villages chosen for the list will receive promotional support, infrastructure investment, and opportunities to host cultural events that draw domestic and international visitors.

CMG stressed that the initiative aligns with broader objectives to strengthen rural economies, protect intangible cultural assets, and create sustainable employment opportunities through tourism.
