Humanitarian de-mining frees 190,000 sqm for Cambodian families

A humanitarian de‑mining operation led by India’s Quick Impact Project has liberated 197,810 square metres of land for the inhabitants of Khao Pao village in Koh Kong, Cambodia.

The hand‑over was witnessed by Deputy Chief of Mission Tanu Priya, Deputy Governor Y. Neerinate of Koh Kong, and Deputy Secretary‑General Tep Kalyan of the Cambodian Mine Action and Victim Assistance Authority.

The cleared area will serve around 134 families, giving them space to grow crops, build homes and pursue income‑generating activities without the threat of unexploded ordnance.

India’s long‑standing assistance to Cambodia includes training, technical support, clearance tools, detection dogs and aid for mine victims since the early 1990s.

Earlier this month, the two governments also signed an agreement to deepen trade, discuss traditional medicine, improve e‑governance, and strengthen digital payment systems. Bilateral trade has grown over 36 percent, projected to reach $406.78 million in FY 2025‑26.
